Shukkeien Garden is located
in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture.

The name Shukkeien means
literally “shrunken scenery garden”
and its design is modeled after
the area surrounding
a famous Chinese lake.

Shukkeien Garden originally served
as the garden accompanying the villa
of the feudal lord Nagaakira Asano
and its construction began in the year 1620.

Shukkeien Garden was donated
to Hiroshima Prefecture in 1940
and designated as a National Scenic Location.
