The O Torii is unquestionably
Itsukushima Shrine’s
most famous landmark
and a symbol of the shrine
and Miyajima island.

In December 1996
Itsukushima Shrine was
officially designated
as a World Heritage site.

Itsukushima Shrine
was first built
in the year 593.
It was rebuilt
into its current form
in the year 1168
by Taira No Kiyomori.

Jin Noh or Sacred Noh,
is a Noh drama
that was dedicated to
Itsukushima Shrine in 1568.
